SwiftStack supports the following Linux operating systems:
- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS or 14.04 LTS Server 64-bit
- Red Hat 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 Server 64-bit
- CentOS 6.4, 6.5, 6.6, 6.7, 6.8, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 Server 64-bit
- Oracle Linux 6.7, 7.2, 7.3 Server 64-bit
You can use your operating system’s default partitioning, but we generally recommend setting up your OS disk as a single large root partition, as a number of top level directories are used to store databases, logs, and temporary files. Keeping all of your available disk space in the root partition will prevent you from running into issues later down the road with individual partitions filling up and needing to be adjusted.
Both standard partitioning and LVM will work. We recommend using standard formatting, however, as LVM generally doesn’t provide any benefits for the boot disk in a Swift node.
