How are shares mapped to Swift object storage?

Trey Duskin -

Shares in the SwiftStack Filesystem Gateway map directly to containers in the account configured in the 'Auth' settings.  Files copied into the share are created as individual objects in the mapped container.  Directories are handled by naming the object with the directory paths to simulate a directory hierarchy in the container.

It is possible to create multiple shares mapping to the same container.  For example, a container could be mapped to both a CIFS share and an NFS share.
